From September, 28th - October, 3rd 2011, there was a Korea-Indonesia Week 2011. In that program, we can see a lot of Korean cultures. From Korean food, traditional music, movie, sport, and even the singer from Korea.
Here, I got a chance to attend Hallyu Concert 2011 where some Korean artist performed there. There were Lee Joon Ki, Park Hyo Sin, Yoo Seung Chan, Lee Dong Gun, Jung Jae Il, and Mithra. This event was located at Gandaria City Mall, Exhibition Room 3rd floor at 19:30 PM ( Indonesia time ). I went to this concert with my friend, Nazila, who also became photographer and reporter, and my sister, Wena.

We queued in the 2nd floor of Gandaria City Mall. We queued there about 1 hour. At 17:00 PM, Securities and staffs managed us to go to the 3rd floor ( the venue ) by escalator. And I think that no more queue there. But in fact, we still had to queue -____- It was becoming so terrible because people always came and always push us up from the back. So it was such a bad queue. Feeling so hot and difficult to breath, that was what I felt when I was in the queue. The staffs said that the gate opened at 18:30 PM. But actually, they just opened the gate at 19:00 PM. There were 2 gates, gate A and B (and VIP). Many Korean came in the gate A and citizen came in the gate B. This is the fabulous stage and lighting where Korean performer will perform.

Andy sang two songs. Those were so eye catching, but badly I can't recognize what the title of the songs are. I am sorry, Andy oppa! But he DID a great performance! After performing, Andy greeted us with Korean language and the translator translated what Andy said to us. Andy said, " This is my first time to visit Indonesia. I love this country. There are so many beautiful girls here. Then I want to cheer you up guys because this concert is still long and you have to get spirit and enjoy our performance. ".
Andy left the stage. Then Yoo Seung Chan appeared to the middle of the stage ! Oh my! He's gorgeous!

With his white polo shirt, jeans, and sunglasses, he looked so fresh. And I love the way he sang. He sang two songs. The first one is his song ( again, I don't know the title of the song ) and the next song is " Billionaire " by Bruno Mars. Know what, everybody there sang along with him. Several times he pointed his microphone to the audiences and we sang louder. After that, Yoo Seung Chan greeted us like what Andy did to us. But he talked in English. His English is very good. Yoo Seung Chan said, " It is an honour to visit a beautiful country like Indonesia. One day, I'll be back here. ".
No break, Lee Dong Gun and Jung Jae Il came in with guitar in Jae Il's hand. Everybody shouted happily. Before Dong Gun performed, he said, " Actually I have an appointment in another country. But special for Indonesia, I would like to come and meet you all here. ". Audiences cheered up again. Then Jae Il continued, " But me, I am here because of Dong Gun's invitation. But I love this country! ". Everybody laughed on Jae Il. Then they started to perform. 2 songs were Dong Gun's songs.

After the third song, Lee Dong Gun left the stage and Yoo Seung Chan was back to the stage. With Jae Il and Hyo Sin, they mixed 2 song. One is Korean song and another one is I'm Yours from Jason Mraz. Audiences were once again sang along with them. But unfortunately Seung Chan's microphone didn't work. Ah, it's unfortunate.

Finished the song, Yoo Seung Chan and Jung Jae Il left the stage and Park Hyo Sin performed with his own songs. Many girls shouted to Hyo Shin, " Hyo Shin oppa, marry me! ", " Hyo Shin oppa, kiss me! ". Oh my, they were being crazy :D
Most of the songs that the performers performed were mellow song. Then Choi Jin "Mithra" came to the stage and make the situation hotter with his R n B songs.

He was so attractive and made audiences jump up in their space. We waved our hand to the air and jumped up. Everybody loved his performance. After that he came with the main star of the show, Lee Joon Ki ! They sang 2 songs with a great choreography. Audiences shouted to call Lee Joon Ki's name. After singing, Lee Joon Ki opened his glasses and left the stage. Audiences shouted again.

Then all of the performers came to the stage and sang 2 songs for us.
The show was finally ended. They said good bye to us. Oh nooooooo, we still want more. But yeah, the show had finished. Then the MC back and also said good bye to us.
Hmmm ... but it was a great experience for me to watch Korean artist. I am so appreciated and I hope I can attend to another Korean artist concert. 화이팅 !

I just found out that Korea-Indonesia Week 2011 will be held soon. And there will be a lot of activities related to Korea-Indonesia diplomatic relationship. Korea-Indonesia Week 2011 was held from September, 28th - October, 3rd 2011 in 3 places, Gandaria City Mall, Korean Culture Center, and Tennis Indoor Senayan. There are Taekwondo competition, Korean Food Festival, K-Pop Dance Cover and Singing Contest, and the most that we awaited for is Korean Movie Festival and Hallyu Concert 2011 ! Yay !
In this post, I will tell you about Korean Movie Festival 2011 first. There were many films that was aired in the cinema in Jakarta, Indonesia, such as Finding Mr. Destiny, A Barefoot Dream, Harmony, The Good The Bad The Weird, The Sword With No Name, Detective K, and 71 Into The Fire. I booked for Finding Mr.Destiny and A Barefoot Dream. But actually I can't watch Finding Mr. Destiny because it was aired at 20:00 pm and at that time, there was a Hallyu Concert 2011. So my sister and I decided to watch A Barefoot Dream at 13:00 pm. I heard that this film is based on the real story.
We arrived at Gandaria City Mall at 12:45 pm. And we thought that there will be lots of crowd, but in fact, we can go inside of the theater freely. Awww! We were so happy!
A Barefoot Dream is a film about Korean named Kim Won Kang ( Park Hee Soon ) who stayed in Sumatra, Indonesia then got a chance to go to East Timor ( Timor Leste ) for working. But in fact, there was no work in East Timor. In East Timor, Won Kang saw that children there loves to play soccer. But because of the poor condition, they just play football with a bare foot, no shoes. Won Kang saw that it's a great chance for business. He sold some soccer equipment with a great and expensive brands. Of course no one wants to buy it, because of the expensive price. In two months, Won Kang just can sell a pair of shoes.
Finally, Won Kang gave every child a pair of shoes, but they have to pay for the shoes 1 dollar / day. Those children fighted for getting 1 dollar to pay for their shoes. They were afraid that if they can't pay for that, Won Kang will take it back. Although finally, they gave up and wanted to return the shoes back to Won Kang.
But Won Kang's mission to sell the shoes was finally changed when he got a challenge from East Timor man to have a soccer match with them. And that Timor man has a brother who is really good at soccer. He is Ramos ( Francisco Varela ). Won Kang's team vs Ramos' brother team bet with a pig. Because they were not ready, Won Kang's team was lost.
Ramos really want to go to Indonesia and join with Indonesia pro team. And Won Kang said to Ramos that he can make it. Then Ramos was agree to join with them. Ramos joined with another team members, such as Atta, Dinu, and Motavio ( Fernando Pinto ). Motavio and Ramos had a bad moment when a war happened in East Timor. Motavio's father was died by Ramos' uncle. But also finally, Ramos' uncle also died in that war. In every exercise match, Ramos didn't want to pass the ball to Motavia who was near at him. And then finally they lost chance to make a goal.
Then there was also a story about Tua ( Junior Da Costa ), a small boy with a great soccer skill, and his little sister Josephine ( Marlina Simoes ). Won Kang can't let Tua join in the team because of his small body. But with a great effort, Won Kang let Tua join in the team.
Won Kang had a crazy idea about sending his team into the international match in Japan, although they still had lack experience. They searched for help to fund the money and the permission from the embassy. And finally they went to Japan! Not just coming to Japan, but they also won the match over Japan. The score was 3-2 for East Timor because of Motavio, Atta, and the last goal made by Tua through the penalty session. East Timor citizen also cheered with them.
From this film, I learn a lot about our dream. Poor people also have their right to dream and achieve their dream, that's what Won Kang said. Like Ramos, He just has a dream to reach Indonesia Pro Team, but in fact he can go further into the international one.It's all because his effort and also the overall team effort. Believe that we can reach our dream even it's impossible to reach. Because we never know what God plan for us.
After this film ended, all of the viewers in Theater 3 of XXI Cinema Gandaria City gave an applause. It's such an inspirational film. I think that you have to watch it. Many lesson that you can get for your self-motivation.
Thank you Korean Culture Center for giving me the ticket. It's a great film and I'm satisfied!

Samulnori Dance : A Korean Traditional Dance Which is So Popular in The World

SamulNori is a combination of the Korean words Samul (to play) and
Nori (four things). The four things are instruments including the k’kwaenggwari, ching, changgo, and buk style drums. SamulNori combines the
tradition of farmers’ bands with that of traveling entertainers called Namsadang.

[INDONESIAN SHORT STORY] MY MOON RIVER ( INDONESIA LANGUAGE )

Punya sahabat dekat itu memang terkadang menyenangkan. Tapi sahabat dekat itu bisa juga menjadi luka di dalam hati. Tidak semua waktu yang dilalui bersama sahabat adalah waktu-waktu yang terindah.
William, 26 tahun, seorang pengajar vokal di sebuah sekolah musik terkenal di Jakarta. Hari ini jadwalnya memang tidak sepadat biasanya. Hanya jadwal untuk mengajar kelas usia remaja dan anak – anak yang harus dipenuhinya. Hari ini Will, begitu ia biasa disapa, membereskan barang – barangnya dengan senyum yang tau mau berhenti lepas dari bibirnya.
“ Lagi seneng lo, Will ? Senyum melulu dari tadi ?? Gue kira lo udah gila!” tegur temannya, Marshall.
“ Ah kayak lo nggak tau aja! Udah ah, gue duluan! Bye!” kata Will sambil keluar dari ruang guru.
Marshall hanya menggelengkan kepalanya begitu William meninggalkan ruang guru.
“ Hai, Di! Udah lama ? “ tanya Will kepada seseorang di dalam mobil.
“ Gile ,lo! Dikira gue nggak jamuran nungguin lo disini!” kata orang yang ada di dalam mobil itu.
“ Yah, maaf deh Di. Tadi ada materi lagu yang harus diulang saking susahnya. Kan sekarang gue udah disini, Jadi kan nonton konsernya ?” ujar Will.
“ Ya udah pasti jadi! Tiket mahal gini koq ya dianggurin. Masuk, gih cepetan!”.
Dua minggu lalu, Diana, sahabat Will, memberikan kejutan untuk Will di hari ulang tahunnya yang ke 26. Hadiahnya adalah tiket nonton konser resital piano yang sangat ingin dihadiri oleh Will. Perasaan Will saat itu nggak bisa digambarkan, termasuk dengan perasaannya hari ini.
“ Lo ke konser resital piano pake baju gitu doank ?” tanya Diana sambil menyetir.
“ Diana sayang, ini gue bawa jas tau! Tenang aja deh, persiapan gue komplit!” jawab Will.
“ Menurut gue, lo malah kayak orang mau pindahan!” sahut Diana.
“ Please shut up and drive!” desis Will. Mulai, deh cerewetnya Diana kambuh.
Walaupun paling cerewet dan bawel, Diana tetaplah sahabat Will yang paling ia percaya. Sekarang Diana bekerja sebagai seorang manager di perusahaan keluarganya. Will mengenal Diana pada saat orientasi kampus. Diana lebih tua 2 tahun dibandingkan Will. Ya, Diana adalah senior Will. Saat itu, Will adalah mahasiswa baru yang paling berani membela mahasiswa baru lain yang tidak bersalah namun tetap dicari-cari kesalahannya oleh mahasiswa senior. Mungkin senior Will itu nggak berani ngaku salah. Hampir aja Will kena tonjok sama seniornya kalau Diana nggak dateng untuk melerai.
“ Oy, Dia bener! Kalo maba nggak salah, ngapain lo cari-cari masalah ?! Senior, sih senior. Tapi kalo lo salah, harusnya berani ngakuin salah lo donk!” bentak Diana pada temannya, yang Will lihat di name tag-nya ada tulisan nama “ ABRA “.
Yang namanya ABRA terdiam. Dengan muka marah campur malu, Abra meninggalkan Will, Diana, dan juga mahasiswa baru yang teraniaya itu.
“ Lo nggak apa-apa ? Mending lo balik ke barisan lo daripada tambah kena masalah lagi. “ kata Diana dengan nada sedikit khawatir, tapi masih ada ketegasan di dalamnya.
“ Nggak apa-apa, Kak! Makasih ya, Kak …, “ Will melihat ke arah name tag Diana. “ Kak Diana …, “ lanjut Will.
“ Sama-sama!” Diana pun berlalu dari hadapan Will.
Dari pertemuan itulah yang akhirnya membuat Diana dan Will semakin dekat. Mereka mengira kalau Diana dan Will pacaran. Tapi sampai sekarang mereka masih sahabat dekat. Will dan Diana suka sekali sharing tentang apa saja. Namun ada satu hal yang sama sekali tak pernah dibahas oleh Diana, walaupun Will sering membahasnya, yaitu masalah cinta. Will juga tak pernah iseng membahas kehidupan percintaan Diana. Takut digampar, katanya.
“ Udah selesai, Mas ngelamunnya ? Tau deh yang bahagia mau nonton konser impiannya!” ujar Diana.
“ Siapa yang ngelamun sih ?! Masih lama nggak sih nyampenya ? “ tepis Will.
“ Sabar, dooonnkkk. Ini juga gue nggak ngerti kenapa jadi macet gini. Tapi pasti gue usahain koq 10 menit nyampe di TKP!” kata Diana.
Yes, 10 minutes. Diana is a quite good racer! Ciiiiiittttttttt …., mobil berhenti tepat di depan pintu masuk lobby dan berdecit lumayan keras. Muka Will pucat.
“ Gitu aja pucet! Hahahaha … tunggu gue disini, gue cari parkir dulu!” ujar Diana sambil menyuruh Will keluar dari mobilnya dan menunggunya di depan pintu masuk mobil.
Will keluar dari mobil Diana dengan wajah menahan mual. Ia menunggu Diana di depan pintu masuk. 10 menit kemudian, Diana datang dengan menggenggam clutch keluaran Louis Vuitton yang paling baru. Ya, Will tau itu karena minggu lalu Diana menunjukkan pada Will tentang clutchterbaru Louis Vuitton itu. Diana memang berencana akan membelinya dan sekarang sudah tergenggam manis di tangan kanannya yang indah. Dan Will baru menyadari Diana sudah pakai gaun yang indah. Gaun itu memperlihatkan kemolekan tubuh Diana dan juga memperlihatkan hampir setengah punggungnya. Will melihatnya sambil tersenyum.
“ Ngapain senyum-senyum ? Lo musti dipermak nih sebelum masuk venue!” si cerewet Diana itu menghardik Will dan menarik tangan Will ke dalam lobby.
Diana mengacak-acak isi tas olahraga Will yang berisi pakaian Will dan juga sibuk mencocokkan jas yang dibawa Will dengan “ onderdil “ lainnya.
“ Gue nggak ngerti, deh Di masalah ginian. Ini gue bawa random aja.” kata Will.
“ Random, sih random Will, tapi masa’ iya tabrak warna gini ??? Nah, untung ada satu nih yang netral! Jas lo pake sama kemeja ini, dasi ini, daaannn sepatu lo musti diganti tuh!” kata Diana sambil menyerahkan segala yang harus dipakai Will.
Will cukup menghela nafas dan cepat-cepat mengganti pakaiannya. 10 menit kemudian, Will kembali dari toilet dan terlihat disana Diana tersenyum puas.
“ Perfect, my Will! “ puji Diana. Senyum Will mengembang.
Will dan Diana asyik menikmati konser resital piano tersebut. Setiap nada yang dimainkan, setiap suara yang diperdengarkan, dan atmosfer yang terpancar membuat malam itu semakin romantis bagi Will. Apalagi ada Diana disampingnya. Si cantik nan cerewet itu kini sedang memejamkan matanya dan tersenyum. Pasti dia juga sangat menikmati malam ini. Will memberanikan diri untuk menggenggam tangan Diana secara perlahan. Begitu tangan Will menggenggam tangan Diana, perlahan Diana membuka matanya dan wajahnya menunjukkan ekspresi terkejut.
“ Thank you for the gift! I really like it! “ bisik Will perlahan di telinga Diana sambil terus menggenggam tangan sahabatnya itu.
“ Don’t mention it. Just enjoy the show! “ balas Diana.
Selesai konser, Will benar-benar tidak bisa melepaskan senyum dari bibirnya. Yang ia ingat hanyalah malam yang begitu romantis. Ya, Diana-lah yang sebenarnya membuat malam ini menjadi lebih romantis. Konser resital piano tadi hanyalah sebagai penunjang keromantisan itu. Karena terus tersenyum, Diana memberikan Will tatapan aneh.
“ Kenapa ?” tanya Will.
“ Sepanjang konser sampai sekarang kerjaan lo senyum melulu, Will. Jangan bilang lo kesambet pemain piano yang cantik tadi! Hahahaha …, “ jawab Diana. Tawanya pecah.
Will tak bisa berkata apa-apa. Masih ada senyum di bibirnya saat melihat tawa bahagia Diana. Hatinya bergetar.
“ Gue anter lo pulang, Will. Gue nggak mau lo kenapa-kenapa di jalan kalo lo naik metromini dengan pakaian formal gini. “ kata Diana.
“ Aturannya gue yang khawatir sama lo! Hahahaha …,” tandas Will sambil menjitak kepala Diana.
“ Aww!” seru Diana.
“ Gitu aja sakit. Padahal gue ngejitaknya pelan loh. Ayo cepetan anter gue pulang!” ujar Will.
Yang disuruh malah memasang wajah ngambek. Ugghhh, di saat ngambek pun Diana tetap terlihat mempesona.
“ Gitu aja ngambek ih! Ayo ah!” Will menarik lengan Diana. Diana menurut.
Paginya, Will berangkat ke kantor dengan semangat 45. Semalam benar-benar sangat indah baginya. Apalagi ketika Diana berkata bahwa ia sangat suka lagu Moon River yang dibawakan oleh Sarah Brightman yang dipertunjukkan di konser resital piano tadi malam. Diana ingin mendengarkan lagu itu sekali lagi. Tepat di hadapannya.
“ Lah ? Tumben amat lo mintaa gue mainin lagu Moon River ?” seru Will.
“ Begitu denger lagu itu tadi, gue tersentuh banget. Nah gue pengeeeennn banget denger lagu itu lagi. Karena lo guru musik dan vocal, gue mau lo mainin lagu itu besok. “ pinta Diana.
“ Harus besok ? Kenapa ? Jadi lo dateng ke kelas gue untuk denger lagu itu ?” tanya Will.
“ Ya, gue bakal dateng ke kelas lo besok dan itu harus besok. Nggak bisa waktu yang lain. “ jawab Diana sambil menyetir.
Will tak bisa menolak permintaan sahabatnya itu. Maka hari ini, ia akan meminta Erinda, salah satu murid terbaiknya untuk menyanyikan lagu Moon River untuk Diana. Sementara Will akan bermain piano sambil menjadi penyanyi latar Erinda. 20 menit setelah kedatangan Will, Diana datang. Diana benar-benar datang! Diana langsung menuju ruang guru dan sempat tersenyum kepada Vandy yang berpapasan dengannya di depan pintu ruang guru.
“ Will!” sapa Diana.
Diana terlihat benar-benar seperti dewi! Penampilannya tak biasa. Sangat rapi, elegan, emmm …. dan wangi parfumnya, itu pasti parfum Opium dari Yves Saint Laurent. Lagi-lagi Will tahu karena masih di minggu lalu, Diana berkata parfum yang dipesannya dari seorang sahabatnya di Amerika sudah sampai dan parfum inilah yang dipakai Diana sekarang.
“ Sebentar lagi kelasnya mulai, Di! Yuk kita kesana!” kata Will.
“ OK!” balas Diana.
Sampai di depan kelas, ternyata Erinda dan teman-temannya sudah bersiap-siap. Erinda, gadis 16 tahun itu tersenyum kepada Will dan Diana.
“ Ready, Erin ? “ tanya Will.
“ So ready to give the best for Miss Diana, Sir!” jawab Erinda.
Diana tersenyum lebar. Tapi … sepertinya dia menahan sesuatu. Ada yang ingin dia keluarkan, tapi sulit.
“ OK, sebelum lagu utama dimainkan, kita bakal memainkan beberapa lagu sampingan.But it’s all for you, Diana!” kata Will.
“ Never mind. “ ujar Diana sambil tersenyum manis.
Diana langsung mengambil tempat duduk di depan. Will, Erinda, dan anak-anak lain yang terlibat dalam “ Songs For Diana “ – begitulah Will menyebut event itu dan muridnya yang menuliskannya di white board sesuai permintaan Will – segera bersiap – siap. Diana terlihat menahan nafasnya. Will memulai mendentingkan pianonya. Lagu pertama, lagu favorit Diana, I’ve Finally Found Someone. Erinda berduet dengan Will. Benar, Diana tersenyum sepanjang lagu, terkadang ia tertawa kecil. Di lagu kedua, ketiga, keempat, dan kelima juga begitu. Diana terlihat sangat menikmati konser kecil yang dipersembahkan untuknya itu. Di akhir lagu kelima, Diana memberikan standing applause. Air matanya keluar satu-satu.
“ Nah, ini lagu yang lo minta Diana. A song which will be sung by Erinda and me, of course. Moon River …, “ kata Will.
Will kembali memainkan pianonya. Lalu Erinda mulai menyanyikan bait pertama lagu yang singkat itu,
“ Moon river … wider than a mile. I’m crossing you in style someday … Oh dream maker, you heart breaker. Wherever you’re going, I’m going your way. Two drifters off to see the world. There’s such a lot of world to see .. We’re after the same rainbows end … Waiting round the bend… My huckleberry friend … Moon River and me …, “ Erinda menyanyikannya dengan begitu indah. Ia mengulangi bait itu sekali lagi.
Ini benar-benar aneh! Will melihat Diana mengusap air matanya beberapa kali dengan sapu tangan sutranya. Ada apa dengan Diana ? Kenapa dia ngotot minta dinyanyikan lagu ini ? Dan kenapa sekarang dia malah menangis ?
“ Waiting round the bend … My huckleberry friend … Moon river … and me .., “ Erinda menyelesaikan kalimat terakhir lagu itu.
Diana malah semakin terisak ketika lagu itu habis. Semuanya terdiam. Will bangkit dari tempat duduknya. Ia menghampiri Diana dan berlutut di hadapan Diana.
“ What happen, Di ? “ tanya Will halus.
Diana tak bisa menjawab. Dengan agak gugup, Will berani meraih Diana ke dalam pelukannya. Tangis Diana pun tak berhenti sampai disana. Suasana bahagia tadi berubah menjadi kesedihan. Setelah 5 menit di dalam pelukan Will. Diana melepaskannya. Diana menghadap kepada anak-anak didik Will.
“ Terima kasih untuk pertunjukan yang sangat indah ini, adik-adik. Kakak tahu kalian memang belum pernah kenal dengan kakak sebelumnya, tapi kalian dengan rela meluangkan waktu kalian untuk menyanyikan lagu-lagu indah tadi. Terima kasih semuanya!” kata Diana.
“ Sama-sama, Kak!” jawab anak-anak itu bersamaan.
Lalu Diana menghadap ke arah Will. Diana menggenggam tangan Will.
“ I need to talk to you, Will! Kita keluar yuk …, “ pinta Diana.
“ Ok ..,”.
Di luar kelas, Diana masih menggenggam tangan Will. Air matanya masih menetes, namun ada senyum disana.
“ Lo tau, kenapa hari ini gue minta lo nyanyiin lagu Moon River untuk gue ? Dan kenapa gue bilang kalau lo harus nyanyiin lagu itu hari ini juga ?” tanya Diana.
Will menggeleng. Diana mengusap air matanya.
“ Sebentar lagi … kita bakal berpisah, Will. Flight gue ke San Fransisco akan berangkat 2 jam lagi. “ kata Diana.
“ San Fransisco ? Lo nggak lama kan disitu ? Kita cuma pisah sebentar kan ?” Will bertanya.
Diana mengangguk pelan.
“ Gue bahkan nggak tau kapan lagi bisa ketemu sama lo!” kata Diana.
Will melepaskan genggaman tangan Diana. Dia tidak menyangka dia akan berpisah dengan Diana, sahabat yang paling ia sayang, dengan cara seperti ini dan sangat mendadak.
“ Will, please …., “ kata Diana.
Mulut Will terasa kaku dan tak bisa berkata apa-apa.
“ Kalo gitu, gue ikut lo ke San Fransisco sekarang!” kata Will.
“ Nggak bisa!!” seru Diana.
“ Kenapa ??!!” Will ikut berseru, setengah membentak.
Tiba-tiba seorang lelaki muncul dari belakang Diana. Ia menghampiri Will dan Diana. Lelaki ini benar-benar seperti pangeran di negeri dongeng.
“ Maaf Will, gue nggak hanya akan menetap di San Fransisco. Tapi gue juga akan menikah disana. Ini Peter, calon suami gue. Kita udah sepakat untuk menikah dan tinggal di San Fransisco. Peter adalah tunangan gue sejak masuk kuliah. Dulu lo pernah tanya, kan kenapa gue nggak pernah kelihatan pacaran sama seseorang ? ya, tunangan gue tinggal di San Fransisco. Dua minggu lalu waktu ulang tahun lo, dia datang ke Indonesia. Dia mau ngejemput gue untuk ke San Fransisco. Dia udah tau semua cerita persahabatan kita, Will. Dia senang kalo gue punya sahabat yang setia banget. “ jelas Diana.
Hati Will hancur. Benar-benar hancur. Bahkan ia tak menyadari air matanya ikut menetes.
“ See you in the other occasion, Will. Maafin gue. Mini concert tadi adalah hadian terindah untuk gue.dan tadi malam gue seneng banget bisa nonton konser resital piano bareng lo. “ kata Diana.
Will masih tidak bisa berkata-kata. Diana memeluk Will dan mengecup kedua pipinya. Lalu Diana dan Peter melangkah pergi sambil melambaikan tangannya ke arah Will. Dan akhirnya mobil Diana lenyap dari pandangan Will. Will pun terduduk di lantai. Ia baru sadar bahwa hari ini ia tidak hanya kehilangan sahabat terdekat, namun ia juga kehilangan cintanya ….

[INDONESIAN SHORT STORY] TIRAMISU -- Author : AKA ( ENGLISH VERSION )

Adrianne Aziana a.k.a Anz, maybe you never hear about this name. But not for all of the students of Bina Bangsa University, and also its academic civitas. Anz is not a scarce name for them. How not ? Anz is the most popular girl in that university. Beautiful, sexy, rich, clever, and kind. But unfortunately, Anz is well known as a girl who always change her boyfriends. It’s not because of she’s a playgirl or always bored with one man, but don’t know why every man that is close to her, he will want to play on her. None of them sincerely love her. They are just aiming Anz’s wealth and reputation as a popular and rich girl.
Like today, Anz is just fighting with Adam, his new boyfriend who has been dated for 2 weeks. Adam is a popular man in Bina Bangsa University. Adam is detected cheating on Anz with kiss another girl in the night club and Avi, Anz’s best friend, caught him up. Avi recorded some scenes that preview Adam who kissed another girl via her mobile phone.
“ Hey, maybe it’s just Avi made that video may we have fight! “ Adam yelled to Anz.
“ Really ? What’s the benefit for Avi ? She’s my childhood best friend! She is impossible for lying to me. Alright, Adam. You are same with another man, aren’t you ? You dated me just for your popularity right ?!” Anz said.
“ Yes! I am like the other man who has dated you! I dated you, it’s just for fun. You are truly beautiful, rich, smart, sexy, but you’re too naïve and totally uninteresting. So what for dating with a naïve girl who don’t want to be invited to go to night club, refuse to be kissed, etc. ? It’s totally fusty!” Adam opened his real mask by himself.
Yeah, Anz always refuse to do a free relationship without knowing the limit of it. Almost all of the men that has been dated by Anz were dumped because of their dating style.
“ Fine! Now I already know what kind of guy you are. Thank you for dating me for two weeks!” Anz said that and then she walks away from Adam.
“ Hey girl, before you go to another relationship, please study how to kiss your boyfriend! Hahaahahahaha! “ Adam teased Anz.
When Anz heared Adam’s statement, Anz reverses her body. Her face becomes red because she’s so angry, her left hand is clenched, her breath is fast than usual, and her right hand which is holding a paper glass which is fulfilling with a quarter-fill of cappuccino is ready to do what it has to do. Anz walks to Adam again.
“ Say it once again! “ Anz said.
“ Should I ? OK, I will. Before you go to another relationship, it’s better for you to learn how to kiss your boyfriend. Believe me, Anz. You won’t ever be cheated by your boyfriend anymore. “ Adam said with teasing tone to Anz.
“ Hmmm … good advice. I will try to learn it then. Oh ya, ini salam perpisahan untuk kita. Thank you Adam! “ Anz said with her sweet smile and throws her cappuccino which is on her right hand to Adam’s face.
Adam is shocked. He swaps his face. Anz laughs. Then Adam wags his clothes which is wet and has a coffee smell also stain.
“ Damn you, Anz! “ Adam yelled.
“ You’re a thousand times jerk than me! Enjoy that! “ And said relievely.
But although Anz is so relieve by throwing cappuccino to Adam’s face, she’s still a fragile heart girl. One of Anz habit if she’s on the bad mood is going to her favorite café, Tiramisu Café. Yes, this café just serves many kind of tiramisu. And tiramisu is Anz’s the most favorite cake ever. When she arrives at Tiramisu café, Anz is soon taking a seat in the corner of the café which has a beautiful view and she feels that she can listen to the song which is played by Tiramisu café’s home band clearly. Because she often comes to that café, she’s even knowing some of waiters and waitresses’ name.
“ Good afternoon, Miss Anz! What do you want to order today ? “ A waiter, who has a name tag in his chest with name ‘ RIO ‘, greeted to Anz.
“ Eh, Hi Mr. Rio! I want to order classic tiramisu for today. And also …, “.
“ Lemon Tea Ice with extra lemon so the taste will be sourer than usual, isn’t it ? “ Rio said and cut Anz’s talk.
Anz is so amazed with Rio, but she’s soon realize to close her mouth and change it with her best smile.
“ Ok, wait for a minute Miss!” then Rio walks away from Anz.
Not waiting for so long time, Rio brings Anz’s order. Rio puts a plate which is filling with a slice of classic tiramisu which is decorated with a fresh strawberry and delightful chocolate sauce in around of the plate, also lemon tea ice with extra lemon, in front of Anz’s face carefully.
“ Thank you, Mr. Rio!” Anz said when Rio is done put Anz’s order in the table.
“ You’re welcome! If there’s something that I can help, please call me. Excuse me. “ Rio said politely.
Almost in all of Anz’s visit to Tiramisu Café, Rio always serves Anz kindly. Rio, 25 years old, a diploma graduated from one university, handsome, and also kind. Actually, Rio can get a better job than just be a waiter. But don’t know why he always still want to be a waiter. Once, Rio caught Anz up when that girl cried a lot while played straw on her lemon tea ice glass. Rio always took a look on Anz although he is busy to serve another customer. But at that day, Anz stayed at that seat of the café until the café would be closed. She just look at the outside of the café, ordered lemon tea ice until seven times, and sometimes swap her tears. Because the café would be closed soon, so Rio came to Anz.
“ I am sorry, Miss. We will close the café. “ Rio said slowly.
But how surprise Rio is when suddenly Anz hugged his waist. She cried a lot while hugged Rio’s waist. Rio calmed her down soon while uncare about his friends’ stare at him. Rio took Anz’s hug off slowly and went to take his work bag. Rio invited Anz to go outside together and he still calmed Anz down whose heart is broken by love. That was happened when Anz was dumped by Ronald, her childhood friend who become her boyfriend for 4 years, but it must be ended when Ronald decided to receive his marriage plan with Laura, a girl that was matchmade by Ronald’s parents, on age 20 years old. So, Rio and Anz is actually quite close each other, although just become a waiter and customer relationship.
“ Mr. Rio!” Anz called Rio.
Rio, who has wiped some plates and glasses, leaves his job for a while and walks closer to Anz.
“ Yes, Miss Anz. What can I do for you ? “ Rio asked.
“ I need help and some minutes ago, Mr. Rio said, if I need help, so I have to call Mr. Rio, right ?” Anz said.
“ Hmmm … yeah true, I said that before. So, what can I do for you ? “ Rio said.
“ Would you accompany me to talk here ? Just for a while …,” Anz asked something to Rio.
“ Hah ? “ Rio is surprised.
“ Don’t worrt, I will ask for permission to Mr. Aldi. I just need 15 minutes to talk. “ Anz said. Then Anz walks to meet Mr. Aldi. Mr. Aldi is a manager of Tiramisu Café. Rio doesn’t have a time to answer Anz’s ask.
Rio sees to Anz who talks to Aldi. Aldi seems allow Anz’s ask. Anz gives her smile. When Anz returns to her seat, Rio is soon moving his sight.
“ Let’s take a seet, Mr. Rio!” Anz said while letting Rio to sit.
“ What do you want to talk with me, Miss Anz ? “ Rio asked.
“ Anz, please. No ‘ Miss ‘ on the beginning. “ Anz answered.
“ Ah, OK … Anz. “ Rio said it rigidly.
Anz takes a long breath. She’s hardly to breath. Before talking, Anz reaches a glass of lemon tea ice which is in front of her face and drinks it until there’s half portion left.
“ I feel so sad. “ Anz said to start their conversation.
“ I know. “ Rio said.
“ How do you know it, Mr. Rio ? “.
“ Rio, please …,”
“ Oh OK Rio …,”.
“ I always look at you, Anz. You always come here with rumpled and flat face, no happiness shine in your eyes, and always sulky. When you try to hide your sadness, I already know that actually you’re so sad. I can see it when you look at my eyes when you order some foods to me. “ Rio explained.
“ Including of today ? “.
“ Totally true! I’m sorry, if I got an allowance to know, is now your problem similar to your previous problem ?” Rio asked.
“ What do you mean ? “ Anz asked.
“ Broken hearted. Like your previous love story with … ah, sorry …, “ Rio doesn’t have any brave to continue his words.
“ You’re right, Rio. Now is the same condition. Something happened between me and Ronald before is now happening again to me and Adam. I never understand, actually what’s less from me ? They said, I’m such an almost perfect girl, whether physically and brainly. But if like that, why do my love stories always jump to the same hole and never become a beautiful love relationship like Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston or …,”.
“ Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston were divorced, Anz. “ Rio cut Anz’s sentence.
“ Ah, yeah! And the point now, why do my love stories never become a beautiful relationship like Cinderella or like Belle and The Beast ? “ Anz takes the main point and then cut the tiramisu into a small pieces with spoon and feed it to her mouth.
Rio takes a deep breath and exhales it. Then Rio looks into Anz.
“ How’s the tiramisu, Anz ? “ Rio asked.
“ As usual, delicious and sweet. “ Anz answered while feed another small pieces of tiramisu to her mouth.
“ But if you eat it more than this, it will be a bitter one and you feel nauseated. “ Rio said.
“ I am never feeling bored to eat tiramisu. But … yeah … if I eat 2 -3 slices again, maybe I will feel nauseated too. “ Anz agreed to Rio’s statement.
“ It’s same to love, Anz. By what I thought, if we fall in love with someone, don’t give all of your love. If you’re now having 10 loves, don’t spend them just to that person. Know what, as the time goes on, you will feel a bitter condition. You will feel soooo in love with him, but he’s not. “ Rio said.
Anz is quiet when she heard Rio’s sentence.
“ Besides that, because you are so in love, so that man will oftenly trick on you. They think that you are so in love to himself and will never leave you. Finally, he will do whatever he like. Like cheating on behind you. That’s the negative point because we feel so in love with another human, Anz. “ Rio continued it.

“ You have heard my opinion. You can conclude it, don’t you ?” Rio said. He gives Anz his smile which makes Anz’s heart shivers.
“ Another one, tiramisu is also being a symbol of life. Tiramisu is consisting of some cake layer. There is egg yolk layer, mascarpone cheese layer, coffee and chocolate layer, and also there are ladyfinger biscuits in the middle. Life is sometimes so smooth, like egg yolk and mascarpone cheese, but it can be bitter and pebble, like when you bite coffee-chocolate layer and bit its ladyfinger biscuit. So Anz, life is not forever beautiful and the important is life is once. Your task now is make your life, that you have said your life is bad, become more beautiful. I don’t know the way. Just you and God know how to make your life more beautiful although you’re in the bitter condition or step on the gravels. “ Rio explained.
Anz smiles after listening to long explanation from Rio. Rio feels bad when he sees Anz’s smile. Anz smile’s is not bad.
“ Why, Anz ? Why do you just smile ? Am I too much talking ? I’m sorry if it’s like I teach you. “ Rio said.
“ No, no Rio. What you have said is true. I agree. I’m happy that you’re much talking today. Maybe I will sleep tight tonight. I will never think about my relationship with Adam again. “ Anz said happily.
“ Too much. “ Rio said while try not to laugh.
“ I think nope!” Anz said.
Suddenly, Aldi, a manager of Tiramisu Café, comes to Anz and Rio. He speaks politely,
“ I’m sorry for bothering you, Miss Anz. I want to ask your permission because Rio must back to his work now. I’m sorry if I cut Miss Anz and Rio’s conversation. “.
Aldi bows respectfully to Anz and then return to his space. Anz replies Aldy by nod her head.
“ I’m sorry, Anz. I have to back on my work. I hope you will feel better. Be a strong woman, Anz. You can do it!” Rio said. Then Rio stands up and make the seat position is in the right place again.
“ Wait a minute, Rio!” Suddenly Anz holds Rio’s hand. Again, Rio is surprised.
“ Why ? “ Rio asked.
“ Tomorrow … I will come again. You … do you want to make the sweetest tiramisu for me ? Special for me. No bitter taste!” Anz ordered to Rio.
“ If there’s no bitter taste, it can’t be called as tiramisu. That’s called Cheese cake. “ Rio said.
“ Whatever the name is, I will ask for the sweetest tiramisu tomorrow. It has to be made by you! I’ll see you! “ Anz said. She takes her bag soon and go to cashier.
Rio is left by Anz and he’s just smiling when see Anz walks out from that café.
